Vijay Krida Mandal’s (VKM) key objective is to provide services to the underprivileged and to enhance the overall effectiveness of the social ecosystem. At present VKM works actively in the area of HIV/AIDS.

Main activities include:

Medical Relief: 

  • DISHA - This project is based on the premise of providing facilities to the CSWs which they did not have access to, earlier. Through Disha - the importance of a personal hygiene, motivation to adopt safe sex practices like right method to use the condom & facilitating the process of empowerment – helping the CSWs in forming a self-help group which is deep rooted in the philosophy of mainstreaming these women in the course of time. Activities including identification & training of peer educators, literacy programme for CSWs, empowerment, outreach, workshops & meetings, demonstration & distribution of condom outlets (Apna Box), health, education & information, etc. are conducted by the NGO.
  • The NGO also runs other AIDS prevention programs such as AASTHA for bar girls to reduce the spread of HIV and incidence of STIs among them and their regular partners thereby motivating the access to Health Care services and creating an enabling environment with the help of sensitization meetings, events and SBC sessions. Programs like KIRAN and UDAY focuses on prevention of Parent to Child and vice versa transmissions of HIV.
  • VKM also conducts free health camps for general check-ups, blood donations and health club, ambulance services, etc.

Library & Computer Training Services:  Books relating to stories, novels, religious texts, biographical, etc. with a view to create interest for reading among children and general public. With a view to provide the computer education to the students, training centres has been setup at nominal cost to economically backward families.

Community Events:

  • Food Grains Distribution: During the year, female Sex workers who had been badly affected due to loss of earnings during the pandemic were provided food grains, 1206 beneficiaries were benefited from this program.
  • Eye Testing Camps: With a view to provide facilities of Eye Testing & cataract operation to the FSWs of brothel area & the needy population, camps are organised for free.
  • Sanitary Napkin Distribution: The proper menstrual hygiene management is one of the most important and basic aspects of feminine health that is unfortunately neglected by Female Sex Workers. The NGO distributes napkins with a view to explain the importance of such practices.

Maha-E-Seva centre is operated by the NGO for providing various services like availing PAN card, National Pension scheme, Senior Citizen Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Income Certificate, Employment card at their doorsteps.
