Programs

Last Wilderness Foundation (LWF) operates as a dedicated conservation organization that works to create inclusive, community-led models of protection across critical wildlife landscapes. Its vision is an India with a natural heritage that is respected and protected by its people, while its mission focuses on increasing awareness and assisting sustainable development in tribal settlements near forest peripheries.

Major Interventions:

Wildlife Conservation and Habitat Restoration: LWF manages programs that restore pathways for wildlife and revive forest ecosystems. It conducts household surveys to understand forest dependency and repairs infrastructure like retention walls to safeguard plantations. These efforts focus on securing passages across landscapes such as the corridors between Bandhavgarh and Panna.

Education and Youth Outreach: The NGO transforms the forest into a classroom through several educational initiatives. It establishes Eco Clubs in schools and provides training for teachers to lead conservation-based learning. Special programs like the Pardhi Empowerment Programme support children through remedial teaching, hostel enrollments, and early learning centers to break cycles of exclusion.

Community Guardianship and Safety: The Gram Rakshak Programme trains local youth to act as village sentinels who monitor wildlife movement and respond to emergencies. LWF also conducts intensive awareness sessions on snakebite prevention and fire safety to protect both people and the forest. These initiatives empower residents to handle negative interactions with wildlife through informed action rather than panic.

Sustainable Livelihoods and Social Security: LWF facilitates alternative income sources such as sustainable crafts and nature guiding to reduce forest dependency. It also acts as a bridge for social security by helping marginalized communities obtain official identity documents, including birth certificates and ration cards. Additionally, the NGO supports livestock health through large-scale vaccination drives and compensation programs for cattle loss.
