Navikru Eco Foundation is dedicated to environmental conservation and community empowerment within the Ladakh region. The foundation aims to inspire and educate local communities to create sustainable environmental solutions through experiential learning and grassroots innovation. Its mission centers on the belief that meaningful action arises from those who live closest to the land and understand its changing rhythms. By collaborating with schools, youth, and rural groups, it transforms local strengths into systemic change for a greener future.
Earthian Program: The foundation implements one of the largest sustainability programs for educational institutions in the region. This initiative emphasizes activity-based learning centered on themes like waste management, biodiversity, and water conservation. It introduces students and educators to experiential methods that foster a deeper understanding of ecological challenges.
Teacher Training Initiatives: Navikru Eco Foundation conducts specialized training sessions for educators to integrate environmental awareness into standard curricula. These programs focus on nature-based learning and innovative teaching methods, such as inquiry-based approaches. Teachers participate in nature walks and practical workshops to gain hands-on experience with local flora and fauna, which they then share in their classrooms.
The Himalayan Clean-up: This program addresses the critical issue of plastic pollution across the mountain states of India. The foundation organizes collective cleanup drives and brand audits to engage volunteers in direct environmental action. By mobilizing communities to collect and categorize waste, the initiative highlights the necessity of sustainable consumption and waste management in fragile ecosystems.
Community and Nature Exposure: It facilitates exposure tours and workshops that connect students and community members with their natural heritage. These activities provide participants with first-hand knowledge of medicinal plants and local ecology. Through these programs, the foundation strengthens the enduring connection between people and the land they inhabit.
