Presence

Programs

Gramin Punarnirman Sansthan (GPS) aims to empower marginalized communities, particularly Dalit Women. It envisions a society rooted in equality, self-reliance, and democratic participation. GPS's work is guided by values of respect, transparency, and justice, with a focus on building sustainable development models through community participation and capacity building.

Major Interventions:

Support for Semi-Orphan and Poor Children: GPS runs a care and education program in Varanasi’s slums, offering non-formal education, mainstreaming support, and child rights advocacy. The program helps underprivileged children transition into formal schooling while supporting families through livelihood initiatives.

Women Empowerment through Civil Society Strengthening: GPS fosters gender equity by empowering women farmers through the promotion of climate-resilient agriculture and entrepreneurship. Through local CSOs, it enables women to engage in governance, build businesses, and lead Farmer Producer Companies. Initiatives such as organic farming, floriculture, and mushroom cultivation not only enhance incomes but also strengthen women’s roles as leaders in their communities.

Ending Gender-Based Violence (Shadhika Dawn Initiative): GPS addresses gender-based violence through education and behavioural change among boys, men, and educators. This initiative promotes respectful relationships, awareness of toxic masculinity, and constitutional values. The effort leads to a visible shift in attitudes, increased empathy, and active engagement of youth in building safer communities.

Access to Government Schemes for Marginalized Women: Women’s collectives are supported in their engagement with Gram Sabhas and local development planning. GPS strengthens their ability to claim benefits under various welfare schemes by guiding them through the documentation and advocacy processes. Women are also trained to demand quality health services and entitlements, making health systems more accountable and responsive.
