The recent crisis in Afghanistan has forced many people to move out of their country, with over 5 million Afghans displaced in the country and across borders. (Source: https://www.unhcr.org/)

Considering the crisis, India has introduced ‘e-visa’ for Afghan nationals, with a validity of six months, to fast-track their applications for entry into the country.

Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India (AKAHI) is working closely with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - the UN Refugee Agency, and community based organizations in Delhi to monitor the situation and provide intervention.

An estimated total of 1,000 families have sought refuge in Delhi and nearby cities like Lajpat Nagar, Bhogal, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, etc.

What can you do to help the Afghan refugees?

As per the field level checks and interactions with local stakeholders and communities, food and basic hygiene material has emerged as the immediate relief requirement.

After a careful assessment by our Research Analysts, HelpYourNGO has partnered with AKAHI to provide Emergency Relief Kit to 500 refugee families.

Each Kit costs Rs 3,130/*- and would suffice a family of 5 members for 1 month

The Kit is designed as per the need of the beneficiaries and contains:

  1. Food items: Malka, White Channa, Moong Sabut, Lobiya, Soyabeen Granules, Atta, Salt, Sugar, Refined Oil, Tea, Tomato Puree
  2. Hygiene items: Liquid Hand wash, Washing Powder, Dish wash soap

* including cost of packing, distribution and transportation.

Your donation will help us provide Emergency Relief Kits to 500 families.

The AKAHI team is hard at work on ground and in constant touch with the refugee families. We shall be sharing an update in the form of Reports. Thank you for your concern and goodwill for those who are struggling.

Let’s work together to help the refugees tide over the crisis.

Mandakini Mahila Bunkar Samiti (MMBS) began its operations in 2013 after flash floods caused destruction to critical infrastructure, ecology and many livelihoods of people in Uttarakhand, India. MMBS is a community based organization that provides immediate disaster response and livelihood support for years to come for the ones affected by that particular disaster with the help of their dedicated staff member.

Tragedy of the glacier burst struck on 7th Februrary 2021 which triggered widespread panic and large scale devastation in the high mountain areas of Uttarakhand, India. The initial estimate in majority of the inaccessible villages in Joshimath Block of Chamoli district was that there is an urgent need for food. People affected by the disaster directly are also finding it extremely difficult to make both ends meet and rebuild their lives which are built around socio-economic fabric.

MMBS with the help of local administration/gram panchayat has decided to distribute Relief ration & hygiene kits to beneficiaries located at higher as well as lower altitudes.

1 Relief Kit would suffice a Family of 5 for 1 month

Per Relief Kit Cost: ₹ 2,750/-

The Kit includes items such as Rice, Flour, Spices, Oil, Sugar, Blankets, Candle & Match box, Soap, etc.

Take a second to pause and re-imagine your city.  Imagine a city where music replaces the deafening honks of cars and bustle of traffic; a city whose monotonous landscape of apartments and malls is reinvigorated with colours, art and design; a city where inspiration is boundless.

The Natural Streets for Performing Arts Foundation (NSPA) is a non-profit initiative that aims to reclaim public spaces for the arts and to support the livelihoods of independent artists.

Thus, NSPA Foundation is a tribute to everyday people like you and I who have taken it upon ourselves to do just that!

Software engineers, white collared corporates, middle class citizens and students from all walks of life unite to liberate the arts from its confined enclaves and foster a culture of openness and self-expression through the arts. Since we are not performing in public places due to the pandemic, but you can still feel their presence.

Light of Life Trust (LOLT) began its journey 17 years ago with a vision to break generational poverty, one life at a time through providing quality education and livelihood opportunities. Despite COVID-19 having affected the country in multiple ways the organization has adopted various strategies to reach out to its beneficiaries. In times like these, where the world is shifting to digital platforms, LOLT has quickly adapted and is ensuring there are no interruptions faced in educating their students.

Need: It is already difficult for students with no internet connectivity or access to any electronic devices to attend their daily online school classes. Given that the crucial Grade 10th board exams are approaching, LOLT is trying their level best to share the basic materials needed to pass their board exams with their students.

Target: We are raising funds for 20 Smart Tablets for 100 students of  LOLT so that they can attend the online classes. 5 students at a time can use 1 Smart Tablet.

Total number of student beneficiaries: 100

Cost of 1 smart Tablet: 8,500/-

Total Funds Required: ₹170,000/-

Location: Students living in the remotest villages of Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

We want to reach out to these students and provide them with a ray of solidarity and support. Any contribution from you will help them immensely.
