Programs

Dream a Dream works towards transforming the education experience for school-going children in India. It has mainstreamed life skills as a critical approach to helping children overcome adversity and learn to thrive. The aim is to change the purpose of education through curriculum, pedagogical innovations, and the development of holistic assessment frameworks.

The NGO’s programs use innovative, interactive methods and provide non-traditional educational opportunities for young people to explore, innovate, and build important life skills.

Major Interventions:

After School Life Skills Programme: is a foundational initiative that introduces creative, life skills-based pedagogy to young people through the mediums of sports and the arts. Operating in government and low-income private schools, this programme uses football and creative arts to build resilience, self-awareness, and communication skills. Students benefit from experiential learning opportunities, including career guidance, leadership workshops, and residential camps. ASLSP serves as an entry point for deeper engagement with schools and helps initiate broader system-level change.

Well-being Curriculum: Dream a Dream has developed and contextualised comprehensive life skills curricula that are implemented through both in-school and community-based platforms. These programmes aim to redefine learning spaces into nurturing environments that support personal growth and emotional well-being. In Thriving Schools and Centres, educators and school leaders are supported to adopt facilitative, empathetic practices. Curriculum interventions, teacher training, and mentoring create a culture where well-being is central. These models promote a mindset shift in stakeholders, allowing for education to be centered around thriving rather than academic pressure.

A core component of Dream a Dream’s work is its collaboration with government bodies across several Indian states. It co-creates policies, curricula, and teacher training programmes grounded in social-emotional learning. These system-wide interventions ensure long-term change by embedding life skills into public education frameworks.
