The Basic Research Education and Development (BREAD) Society is dedicated to educational advancement for students from marginalized backgrounds. The mission focuses on inculcating a thirst for knowledge and helping students achieve their full potential to bring forth human excellence through establishing children’s libraries in Government High Schools.
Major Interventions:
Children’s Library Program: The primary focus of the NGO is on establishing libraries within government high schools. This program provides essential book racks and a diverse collection of books in languages such as Telugu, English, and Hindi. These libraries aim to provide high-quality reading materials that add value to existing school facilities. The society emphasizes easy-to-read stories to engage young readers and foster a consistent reading habit.
Book Replenishment Initiatives: To maintain the relevance and variety of the libraries, the NGO regularly adds new books to existing collections. This ongoing support ensures that students have access to fresh content and a wide range of topics. The replenishment process relies on sustainable financial models, such as using interest from fixed deposits to fund the purchase of additional volumes.
Student Engagement and Monitoring: The society implements unique features within its library programs, such as delegating record-keeping responsibilities to the students. This practice fosters leadership and accountability among young people. Furthermore, it promotes the submission of book reviews to track student interest and program effectiveness. It also explores digital solutions and internships to monitor library usage across various regions.
Scholarship and Financial Assistance: While the current emphasis remains on libraries, the NGO has a history of supporting meritorious underprivileged students through financial assistance for higher education. It continues to facilitate donations for various educational needs, including funding for book publishing and library expansion into non-governmental schools.
