Sunbeam is dedicated to the holistic development of underprivileged children. Its mission is to transform their lives by allowing them to realize their full potential. The NGO's vision focuses on preparing students to become future-ready, guiding them to discover and understand various career paths, and empowering them to become catalysts for positive change. Sunbeam aims for a program of transformation, not just service delivery, to make the community self-reliant over time.
Major Interventions:
Academic Support and Scholarships: Sunbeam offers extensive academic support to its beneficiaries, focusing on education as a main area. It collaborates with affiliated coaching classes, offering students a conducive learning environment, study materials, and regular mock tests to help them identify and correct mistakes. A crucial part of this program is the provision of scholarships that cover a significant portion of tuition fees, easing the financial burden on families. This support extends from the primary level through to college, including grants for professional courses.
Career Guidance and Mentorship: Beyond academic support, Sunbeam provides comprehensive career guidance. The educational coordinator and career counsellor guide students in making informed decisions about their future. They organize meetings and sessions with professionals to provide detailed information about various career paths, such as professional courses and degrees in fields like law, engineering, and commerce.
Skills Training Initiative: In a new initiative, Sunbeam connects students who are not academically inclined or who have dropped out to organizations that provide free skills training programs. These short-duration courses, ranging from a few weeks to a few months, cover a variety of fields such as Customer Care Executive, Auto Service Technician, and Cyber Security. This program aims to equip students with practical skills, helping them secure job placements and face contemporary challenges in a technology-driven world.
