Education Communication and Development Trust, commonly known as EDUCATR, envisions a gender-just society where marginalized groups exercise full rights over their own lives. Its mission focuses on sensitizing the vulnerable through education and socio-economic structures for long-term sustainability.
Major Interventions:
Chakkaravarthy Vidyalaya Nursery and Primary School: This school serves students who often come from marginalized families, including those of single parents and daily laborers. The program ensures that these children receive a formal education in a supportive environment, helping them break the cycle of poverty through academic achievement and talent development.
Bridge School Education: This initiative extends educational support directly into the community through multiple centers. Educators from local villages manage these centers to provide follow-up care and academic assistance during evening hours. The program targets children who face the risk of dropping out or those who require additional guidance to maintain their studies, effectively bridging the gap between home and formal schooling.
Nutritional and Health Support: EDUCATR prioritizes the physical well-being of its students by providing regular nutritious food supplements, including millets, milk, and healthy snacks. Alongside nutrition, it conducts health and eye check-up camps in collaboration with medical centers.
Specialized Educational Assistance: EDUCATR provides targeted support for children with disabilities and those affected by chronic illnesses within their families. This assistance includes the provision of school bags, writing materials, and sports equipment. By covering part of the school fees for disadvantaged students, the trust ensures that financial constraints do not prevent vulnerable children from accessing quality education.
Community Awareness: Beyond the classroom, it organizes cultural awareness programs led by students to address social issues like child marriage and school dropouts. It also conducts sanitation training for street vendors and offers free computer literacy courses to empower women and girls with digital skills.
