Programs

Animal Lives Are Important (ALAI) is a dedicated organization providing shelter to 650+ animals, including Dogs and a variety of large and small animals like Cows, Horses, Sheep, Pigs, Goats, Ducks, and Guinea Fowls, situated in Bagalur Taluk, Bangalore. ALAI's mission revolves around rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming or providing lifelong care for sick, injured, and mistreated animals, especially those on the streets, including the elderly and differently-abled ones.

With a vision to save every animal, ALAI operates 24/7 to respond promptly to calls for help regarding injured street animals. Equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities such as X-ray, Ultrasound, Gaseous Anaesthesia, Fluid warmers, Oxygen concentrators, Blood testing machines, and a complete Orthopaedic surgery set, ALAI ensures holistic and cost-effective treatment with minimal stress for the animals.

Apart from offering free animal birth control and vaccines for dogs, ALAI actively engages in educating villagers. The organization follows a comprehensive four-step approach:

Rescue: ALAI coordinates rescues based on criticality, distance, and trauma type, responding to calls and messages received via various platforms. They prioritize and assign rescue ambulances, drivers, and catchers while keeping in touch with the reporter until the animal is safely attended to.

Rehabilitation: After rescue, animals undergo check-ups, diagnoses, and initial first aid at the ALAI Pet Clinic before being transported to the shelter for continued treatment and recovery.

Remedy - Treatment/Vaccination/Sterilization: ALAI conducts necessary treatments based on blood test results. Animals are observed, fed medicine, and undergo mandatory neutering and spaying to control birth rates. Every dog taken in undergoes 2 rounds of combined vaccine along with anti-rabies vaccine. A final blood test ensures their readiness for release.

Restoration/Permanent Resident/Adoptions:

Restoration: Upon completion of treatment, recovered animals are released back to their locality.

Permanent Resident: Animals unable to survive on the streets due to ailments or disabilities become permanent residents at the shelter.

Adoption: A major emphasis is placed on encouraging the community to consider adoption. Those looking to adopt are invited to meet the shelter pets, and their compatibility is assessed through a thorough screening process. The stringent adoption procedures are in place to ensure that the animals find secure and caring homes.

ALAI's multifaceted approach encompasses rescue, rehabilitation, treatment, and adoption initiatives, embodying the belief in "Adopt-Don't Shop" and striving to create a compassionate community for animals in need.
