Programs

Child Rights and You (CRY) focuses on the root causes of the deprivation in children's lives, whether its gender, caste, livelihoods, displacement or geographies. The NGO visions to have happy, healthy and creative children whose rights are protected and honoured in a society that is built on respect for dignity, justice and equity for all. CRY's role is that of an enabler between development organizations working for child rights at the grassroots level with supporters and donors who come together for child rights.

Major Interventions:

Education: The NGO runs bridge school centres, a strategic program to address the learning and psychosocial deficits in children due to school closures in the past 2 years. These centres provides children with a safe space to play and learn and allowed them to reconnect with their peers and teachers. Conducting community based study sessions for children in small groups using online mediums like WhatsApp. It also provides worksheets, guides and digital support to help children continue studying.

Health & Nutrition: Timely care to lactating and pregnant mothers are provided thereby ensuring prevention of malnutrition to reduce infant/child mortality by connecting families to government healthcare centres. It ensures awareness around menstrual hygiene as well.

Safety & Protection: CRY addresses issues like child labour, child marriage, trafficking and abuse. It identifies and handles cases of children being forced into child labour or pushed to become child brides to reduce the financial pressure on the family. The NGO strengthens child protection mechanisms at the village as well as district levels.

Child Participation: It envisions an environment where children's voices are heard and considered. CRY focuses on changing behaviours and practices at the grassroots level and influencing public policy at a systemic level – thereby creating an ecosystem where children are made the nation’s priority. They mobilize each community to find long-term solutions to these problems by advocating relevant laws and policies that guarantee implementation of their rights.
