Niramaya Health Foundation

Niramaya Health Foundation (NHF) works on three components of population i.e. Children, Mothers, and Adolescents. It is dedicated to ensuring a disease-free childhood, fostering a foundation for a healthy and responsible adulthood. With a dual mission to eradicate anemia among Indian children and educate adolescents on reproductive rights and sexual health, the NGO operates across four thematic areas: Women and Child Health and Development, Sexual and Reproductive Health Education, Nutrition and Sanitation, and Preventive and Curative Health Services.

Major Interventions:

Project Swasthya: This initiative creates a responsive, affordable, and equitable health ecosystem providing quality preventive, and curative primary healthcare for the poor. It supports children up to 10 years under its child health and nutrition program and organizes anaemia detection, menstrual health, hygiene management, and life skills education programs for adolescents. The maternal health and nutrition program reduces pregnancy-related complications through early identification and management of high-risk pregnancies, alongside nutrition education during the antenatal and postnatal periods.

Project Aarogyajeevan: Focused on child malnutrition, this project enhances the health of mothers and new-borns through effective antenatal and postnatal care. It improves nutritional status in children up to 10 years by promoting healthy dietary practices, conducting health promotion activities, and home visits by Niramaya’s health workers, while providing need-based curative services to the community.

Project Aarogyasampanna & Sehat: The NGO aims to reduce child malnutrition and promote preventive health awareness. The initiative has achieved an 80% improvement in the nutritional status of malnourished children. It also promotes health awareness and encourages healthy and hygienic lifestyles through behaviour change campaigns, one-on-one and group health education sessions, and mass awareness events on key health observances like World Breastfeeding Week and National Nutrition Month.

Project Mamta: It aims to reduce malnutrition in children aged 0-10 and lower maternal mortality by ensuring effective antenatal and postnatal care. It involves screening children for nutritional status, supporting malnourished children with appropriate medication and diet plans, and educating parents on better dietary practices. High-risk pregnancies are detected and managed early.

Ek Pehel Swasthya Ki Aur: Supported by Tata Power Community Development Trust, this school-based health and hygiene program is implemented in selected secondary schools. It promotes healthy dietary and sanitary practices among students and provides a space for appropriate sanitary practices within schools.
