Turnstone Global envisions building a just and equitable society where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can live with dignity. It enhances access to education, healthcare, livelihood, and social justice. Its mission is to facilitate comprehensive empowerment, helping disadvantaged individuals realise their potential and face life's challenges with confidence.
Major Interventions:
Education and Remedial Support: The Daulat Public School in Purulia, West Bengal, serves tribal students with residential and day school facilities. Remedial coaching centres across Kolkata slums help school dropouts reintegrate into mainstream education. Scholarships and digital literacy initiatives ensure continued learning for children and youth, including those with disabilities.
Environmental and Social Advocacy: The NGO undertakes large-scale mangrove plantation in the Sundarbans region. This effort aims to combat environmental degradation, support biodiversity, and mitigate the effects of climate change, especially in ecologically sensitive coastal areas prone to flooding and erosion. In addition, it also plants saplings in remote districts to promote reforestation and environmental sustainability. Social advocacy covers gender rights, consumer awareness, and inclusive education. Women’s rights programs focus on addressing violence and promoting leadership through awareness campaigns and community mobilisation.
Support for Children with Special Needs: The “Touch the Childhood” program supports children with learning difficulties such as ADHD and dyslexia. Through specialised teaching strategies and low student-teacher ratios, it provides a nurturing academic environment. It supports persons with disabilities by providing assistive devices such as smart canes, wheelchairs, and laptops. It also operates a Braille press and audio library to enhance accessibility to education.
Healthcare: Initiatives include general medical camps, geriatric care, and therapeutic services. It addresses preventable blindness through mobile eye care units and promotes early cancer detection. It also runs an internet de-addiction centre and supports awareness through HIV and nutritional programs.
