Shri B D Tatti (Annavaru) Memorial Charitable Trust works for the welfare and development of persons with disabilities in Karnataka. The founders of the trust began its work by working for children with speech and hearing impairment. The aim is to enable, engage and enrich the community as a Society of Equals by creating opportunities for inclusion of persons with disability.
Major Interventions:
Residential School for Hearing Impaired Children:
The school provides education from Grade 1 to 10, it is affiliated to the Department of Women and Child Welfare, Government of Karnataka. The teachers' training skills are upgraded regularly to improve the teaching methodologies. The school follows the Nali Kali method of teaching which is appropriate to teach students with Hearing Impairment. It has sufficient infrastructure to all respective classes and using total communication for the benefit of deaf students to get clarify from the teaching of various concepts.
Sushravya Pre-primary School for Oral Deaf Education (Mother Care Centre):
The objective is to develop mother of a deaf child as a resourceful teacher by providing education which helps them to speak and share individual feelings in front of others. This is three year education for the early detected child, both child and mother have to stay in the campus, if the child detected at the age of three to six month, it is the right time to improve the speech and develop the hearing capacity. The NGO provides speech therapy, experimental teaching, one to one teaching, and exchanging child to other mother along with providing hearing aids.
Garv Se Livelihood:
GarvSe centres (GSC) strengthens the livelihood ecosystem of PwD through collaborating with stakeholders such as local Government, NGOs, Educational Institutions, Skilling partners, Volunteers, Parents of PwD, Employers, and any other relevant stakeholders to leverage their expertise and support for providing livelihood opportunities. An outreach plan has been embarked to strengthen livelihood ecosystem for PwD at various villages, towns, and cities across the country.
Aadhar Outreach:
It focuses on capacity building program of trainers to run effective learning using structured teaching framework by partnering with other NGOs. During the last year, digital capacity building programs has been conducted to empower the staff and organization to run structured Primary Intervention Units for children aged up to 10 years with developmental delay.
