Sankara Group of Eye Hospitals dedicates itself to addressing the serious public health issue of avoidable blindness. The vision centers on the eradication of needless blindness across society. Its mission is to deliver high-quality eye care services to all segments of the population, ensuring access through state-of-the-art medical facilities. The primary objective is to develop comprehensive programs that specifically tackle the key impediments to eye health: lack of awareness, barriers to access, and issues of affordability.
Major Interventions:
The Community Outreach Program works directly in rural communities and remote areas to bring eye care services to those who need them most. The program addresses the root cause of blindness by conducting extensive eye screening camps. These camps serve as the first point of contact for detecting vision impairments and eye diseases. The NGO mobilizes resources and personnel to ensure these services reach underserved populations, thereby increasing awareness and access to necessary care.
Hospital-Based Care and Special Clinics: The NGO operates fully equipped hospitals where individuals identified through the outreach camps receive advanced treatment. This includes performing sight-restoring procedures and offering specialized care for complex conditions. The hospitals maintain high standards of quality and employ modern surgical techniques. This program ensures that once a need is identified, the patient receives appropriate and professional medical intervention.
Education and Training: It places a strong emphasis on capacity building within the field of ophthalmology. It trains medical professionals, support staff, and community volunteers to strengthen the overall eye care delivery system. This focus on education ensures a continuous supply of skilled individuals capable of managing and executing the various programs, thereby sustaining the mission's long-term impact on public health.
