Deepalaya has been a champion for underprivileged children in India. Their mission goes beyond education, providing vocational training, healthcare, and livelihood initiatives to empower these children, especially girls, street children, and those with disabilities. Deepalaya's reach has grown to encompass underprivileged women, and youth, fostering self-reliance through their holistic development programs.
Major interventions:
Education & Vocational Training: Deepalaya's education program includes formal schooling and non-formal learning centers for marginalized children in urban areas. These centers offer remedial education, bridge courses, and library access, reducing school dropouts and fostering holistic development. Additionally, vocational training centers provide essential computer skills and personality enhancement for underprivileged youth, empowering them for success in the digital age. The Beauty Culture (grooming & wellness) and Fashion Designing program- Project: Nari Shakti is designed to develop women's skills and capabilities, giving them the required skill sets.
Woman Empowerment: Earn to Empower model, empowers women through a three-pronged approach: Train, Fund, And Engage. It offers skill development training, financial support, and ongoing guidance to women entrepreneurs, collaborating with partners. Numerous women have been supported in establishing micro-enterprises, receiving training, seed capital, and potential credit linkages with banks to ensure sustainability and growth.
Differently Abled (Sambhav): The project empowers differently abled children to thrive through specialized care and tailored interventions. Deepalaya ensures emotional, mental, and academic growth with innovative approaches and a holistic curriculum. It offers training and rehabilitation services like Individualized Education Programs, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and pre-vocational/vocational training to fulfill each child's potential.
Institutional Care: The Deepalaya Children’s Home, operates under the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015, providing a safe and secure environment for children referred through the Child Welfare Committee. Separate homes for boys and girls ensure holistic development, offering opportunities for education and self-reliance. Additionally, initiatives like the Jai Jawan Raksha Academy nurture careers in the Armed Forces for local youth. At the same time, the Slum Basketball Program promotes physical and mental well-being in urban slum communities, fostering crucial life skills for a brighter future.
Community Health: Deepalaya's healthcare program is dedicated to improving the well-being of marginalized communities. They offer vital services such as immunization, reproductive and child health, and menstrual health, ensuring access to essential care. It operates vision centers, providing free eye check-ups and cataract surgeries. Their 'Project Children's Corner' focuses on addressing mental health challenges among underprivileged children through counselling sessions and workshops, aiming to equip them with crucial life skills for improved mental well-being.
