he KANTA (Knowledge Access to All) Community Center for Migrant Children
KANTA (Knowledge Access to All) Educational and Social Organization realized that after the COVID-19 pandemic, many families migrated or returned to cities with their children. However, we found that many of these children were not attending school. In response, our organization started the MUKTAGAN Learning Class for children who were not going to school due to various problems.
Shruti’s Story: A Journey of Hope
Shruti is a bright 12-year-old girl, with her 8-year-old brother, who dreams of becoming a teacher. Her family recently moved to the city in search of better job opportunities. The sudden move meant Shruti had to leave her school and friends behind. She came to our center for study with her mother, who said, "My husband doesn't get any work here, and we don’t have enough money to send our children to school."
By talking to her, we realized that Shruti missed several months of school during the transition, leaving her behind in her studies. Her family struggles to afford basic educational materials like books and uniforms. She feels isolated and anxious in her new environment, missing the familiar surroundings of her village.
At the new community center, Shruti and her brother will receive catch-up classes and access to books and learning materials. The supportive environment will help her regain confidence and continue pursuing her dreams.
These children are in the age group of 6 to 15 years. Our organization helps and motivates their parents to re-enroll in school, and these children are now attending school regularly. The Kanta community center is place for 9 children to learn, grow and develop. All these children are studing in our Muktagan class.
