We started to reach out on one to one basis and Targeted people engaged in small, petty chores. We went
to daily hawkers, children working in carpentry shops, Youth working in mobile repairing shops, middleaged Women stuck in their homemaking activities. We let them know how important it is for everyone to
be self-reliant and self-dependent in terms of employment and how it helps in the growth of society as a
whole.
The Youth was very interested in learning New Skills and wanted a chance to somehow break out of the
shell of poverty and dead aspirations. Most of them wanted to learn IT related courses and footwear related
work. Women around the Area were interested in learning Stitching. Reaching one to one was the right
way. But that way we were not able to cover a lot of areas and people’s inhibitions also became an obstacle.
Hence a camp setting will be suitable for that purpose near the Area because now they are familiar with us
and will want to see this project to become an actuality. We will also be needing Pamphlets and Visiting
cards, to leave a lasting impression on them.
All in all, this outreach proved to be a fantastic experience as we got to see the real challenges of the
oppressed, and we got an idea of how we have to move ahead with this project. Many landless and poor
people depend on daily wages in the agricultural sector and logistics for agricultural activities to earn a
living and support their families . Since day of establishment, the organization has been involved for the
cause of poor and marginalized people through promoting agriculture based livelihood, forming their
institutions, environment conservation, empowering women, adolescent girls and children (through
addressing leader-ship, education, health, HIV/AIDS livelihood, rights etc issues), local self governance, etc.
Women in self-help groups offer unprecedented social capital, providing opportunity for human
development, credit access, enterprise, and sustainable poverty reduction through diversified livelihoods.
Their working together with the 3.3 million elected leaders of the local government, 43% of whom are also
women, will be transformational if funds, functions and functionaries from the 29 sectors assigned to
panchayats as per the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution is transferred to them by State Legislatures.
To take responsibility for the 29 sectors, local governments will require skill sets that facilitate better
governance outcomes at the cutting edge for citizens. For effectiveness, human resources, technology,
hand-holding and partnerships must all be thrust areas. The possible pathways could be Community cadres
like the ASHA Community Health Worker and the Community Resource Persons of the Livelihood Mission.
To empower the people, especially under privileged section of Society – the ST/SC Women and Children
through the process of capacity building, forming self managed organizations and collective actions which
would catalyze socio-economic-political growth, self reliance, justice, dignity and gender just Society for
all. To promote Women leadership and enhance the access of the community to the welfare schemes of the
Government. To create mass awareness in the community for abolishing the discrimination due to Gender.
To promote quality education and child rights among the marginalized children. To increase the livelihood
opportunities through income generation among the deprived and marginalized section of the community
and promote the practice of financial savings among the SHGs/CBOs for sustainable livelihood
opportunities and get better economic status. To create awareness in the community on various important
legal aspects.
