Yuva Parivartan (YP) is the flagship initiative of the Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (KSWA) empowers over a million underprivileged youth and women by enhancing their employability through skill-based training programs. With a focus on practical, short-term courses tailored to meet the needs of its students, YP equips them with the tools to earn a stable livelihood. YP’s mission is to provide a second chance to education-deprived youth, enabling them to lead productive and socially meaningful lives.
Major Interventions:
Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) addresses critical challenges in rural India, including poverty, agricultural distress, unemployment, and poor nutrition. With a focus on five key pillars—agriculture, animal husbandry, water resource management, women’s empowerment, and skills training—the program takes a community-driven approach to development. By involving locals in decision-making and utilizing community resources, the program fosters a sense of ownership and ensures sustainable growth. Demonstration farms showcase innovative agricultural practices and renewable energy systems, offering practical solutions to improve income and living standards in rural areas.
Skill Training for Livelihood: YP intervenes by equipping youth with practical skills that align with both farm-based and non-farm-based industries. The program is divided into three key areas: Mobile Livelihood Development Centres (MLDC), Livelihood Development Centres (LDC), and strategic partnerships. The MLDC focuses on bringing skill development to rural areas, offering practical training in various trades, from dairy farming to apparel making, across numerous villages and states. The LDC provides similar training in both urban and rural settings, ensuring youth in nearby towns and villages can access these opportunities. Additionally, Yuva Parivartan collaborates with other NGOs and institutions to expand its impact, ensuring a wider reach for its successful model of youth development and skill training.
Counselling: YP offers comprehensive services designed to help young people navigate their emotions, build confidence, and prepare for a better future. These counselling sessions focus on understanding the unique challenges youth face, from personal insecurities to external pressures, and provide the guidance needed to overcome them.YP’s dedicated counsellors work to empower youth by helping them understand their strengths, develop career readiness, and build essential life skills. The sessions incorporate relaxation and meditation techniques, such as tapping, to foster mental well-being.
Hospitality and Rehabilitation: Yuva Parivartan has been offering a hospitality training program to underprivileged youth, providing them with opportunities in the hospitality industry. Graduates have secured positions with top international brands and on cruise liners worldwide. The organization also focuses on rehabilitation for trafficking survivors, the LGBTQ community, and women, offering skills training. This includes tailoring and jewellery-making courses for transgender women, as well as patient care and mehndi training for women in red-light areas.
