Creating a Brighter Future for Children under Institutional Care
  • Crisis: In a country of ~20 million children without parental support, less than 5,000 children come into the adoption stream each year. Many children, though eligible for adoption, are languishing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) because most CCIs are not licensed to give up children for adoptions. Nearly 22% of the children in CCIs have no or very little parental contact and can be made legally free for adoption. Children have to leave CCIs once they turn 18 years; in many cases this happens even earlier. Around 50,000 children have to move out of CCIs every year.
  • Programs: CSA's mission is to create a brighter future for children in need of care and protection and residing at CCIs. Their work covers an entire eco-system spanning Adoption, CCIs and Aftercare. Within these areas, they have identified gaps and work with existing institutions and stakeholders to fill them and strengthen the systems and processes. Services are provided free of cost to adoptive parents and CCIs.
  • Outcome: 1) CSA impacts lives of 3,400+ children across 56 CCIs in 4 states by providing holistic support. 2) Support extended to 27 CCIs under Basic program and 33 under Model CCI program. 3) Extends Aftercare and Livelihood support to 120+ children. 4) 40+ children settled in jobs and earning a monthly remuneration between ₹8,000 to ₹21,000.
