Thane CPCA was established to provide support and rehabilitate animals in grief due to various problems faced by them, heavy emphasis is given on community animals and committing to their needs through compassion while relieving them of their suffering, restoring their health and lobbying for their natural rights.

NGO activities are mainly divided into 3 factors:

Rescue: NGO receives an average of 50+ calls per day for the rescue work on Animal Helpline number. Three ambulances are supporting the work thereby servicing the entire 4,000 sq. km district. Neighbouring districts like Palghar and Raigad are also covered in case of need. Injured/distressed animals as well as cruelty cases are also reported. The medical staff in the vehicle provides on-the-spot treatment. Those who need more intensive care are brought back to the hospital.

Rehab: A large number of community animals are presented at the hospital as OPD patients. Once inside the hospital premises, veterinarians diagnose the patients and prescribe further treatment for both the OPD patients as well as the animals brought in by the rescue team. Animal birth control surgeries on every animal (age and health permitting) are preferred before they are returned to their territory or adopted & are inoculated before release.

Release: The most satisfying part of the work done by Thane CPCA is when an animal is returned to where it came from. Sometimes, animals are reported by passers-by. In such cases, utmost care is taken to visit the spot several times in the weeks after release, to ensure the animal is comfortable. In case of wild animals, the Forest Department is intimated and the animal is released in its habitat.

It also aims to counter cases of abuse faced by animals by the hands of human through physical counselling, enlisting the help of police, law enforcement agencies and even through directives of Honourable Court of Law.
