Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) was established for the welfare of underprivileged and needy cancer patients, without any caste or religious discrimination. It is one of the few NGOs having ISO 9000:2008 Quality Certification. CARF was set-up to provide financial as well as medical assistance to poor cancer patients and to educate the public about cancer through distribution of CARF news bulletins, pamphlets, cancer awareness films, etc.

CARF Highlights:

  • In FY11-12, CARF projected Cancer awareness films in 51 schools. This program was for youngsters to alert them the ill effects of Tobacco and Gutkha consumption.
  • For early diagnosis and timely treatment of cancer, medical and counselling camps are held regularly. Through ‘Quit Tobacco’ program, addicts are encouraged to give up tobacco intake and provided with Nicotine Replacement Therapy free of cost.
  • In order to keep abreast of developments and advances in cancer prevention, CARF organises Oration program annually, in which the medical dignitaries and famous oncologists are invited to share their thesis.
  • As part of fundraising program, donation boxes are distributed and maintained at various places. Further at charity sale events, merchandise like T-shirts, wrist bands, key-chains, caps, etc. are sold for raising funds. Collection offices have been opened across Mumbai during FY11-12 to facilitate easier access for prospective donors.
