Connecting Underprivileged Communities to Income Generation
Crisis: Unemployment is currently at its peak in India, with ~2 crore youth unemployed primarily due to lack of employability skills. Consequently, industry suffers while young people, particularly from underprivileged communities, struggle to get employed. ETASHA works to bridge this mismatch.
Programs: They work with underprivileged youth to make them employment-ready and connect them with employment opportunities. 1) Vocational Training & Placement: Short-duration industry-relevant skills training and placement for Std XII passed underprivileged youth. 2) Employability Skill Development & Placement: Soft and core skills training and placement for youth enrolled in technical programs in ITIs. 3) Counseling and Guidance. 4) Capacity building of ITI instructors: Covers exposure to industry and skilling in appropriate methodologies for mentoring and training youth in employability skills. 5) Women Entrepreneurship: Training in Enterprise Management, trade-specific skills and life skills, followed by support in setting up and successfully running enterprises.
Outcome: 36,000+ beneficiaries reached, including 5,300 youth trained and over 70% employed in organised industry; 15,500 school-going adolescents provided life and employability skills training; 9,800 students provided career guidance; 30 women running 6 enterprises.
