Connecting Underprivileged Youth to the Organized Sector
Crisis: Despite many unfilled jobs in India, youth unemployment rate is high due to lack of skills. Etasha skills youth for successful careers in the organised sector, enabling them to break out of the poverty cycle.
Target Beneficiaries: 1) >18 years old. 2) Completed schooling from Government school or National Institute of Open Schooling. 3) Family's average income is Rs5-10,000/month.
Programs: 1) Vocational Training & Placement: Short-duration industry-relevant skills training and placement. 2) Employability Skill Development: Soft and Core skills training and placement. 3) Career Guidance: Based on student's personality, potential and interest.
Outcome: 1) 12,000+ youth reached. 2) 8,600+ youth trained in Vocational & Employability skills. Placement rate is >70%. Starting salaries between Rs5,500-14,000/month. 3) 3,700+ students given Career Guidance. 4) Training enrolment of girls increased from 29% in 2006 to 58% in 2016.
