Home based free palliative cancer care
  • Founded by a cancer survivor, this NGO provides care to poor patients, including pain management, bereavement and counseling support; Runs outpatient clinics, telephone helpline and Day Care Centres.
  • CanSupport has 25 teams (doctor, nurse, counselor) who provided concurrent care to 1,849 patients during FY16. They plan to increase this to 28 teams reaching out to 2,000 patients in FY17.
  • Each home care visit (30,400 visits in FY16) costs Rs1,000 but is offered free. Beneficiary satisfaction with care was recorded at 93% (based on calls made after 80% of home visits).
