Dedicated to the Development of the Kumaon Rural Community
  • Kumaon Agriculture & Greenery Advancement Society (KAGAS) was registered in 1992 working in the hilly regions of Kumao, Uttarakhand, India. Their focus is on working for community development, income generation and a progressive change in the lifestlye for the people living in the rural villages of Kumaon.
  • Programs: i) Rain Water Harvesting: In collaboration with ONGC, KAGAS implemented 20 harvesting tanks for the purpose of meeting with the community's daily water usage needs. The locals have also been trained for the maintenance and utilization of the installed rain water harvesting construction. ii) Usha Silai School: With the support of Usha International, for women empowerment and their financial independence the NGO has taken on the responsibility of training women by imparting sewing skills. By the end of the training each women is provided with one sewing machine.
