More than 750 children's libraries in government schools
It sets up libraries with interesting books (600-650 in each). Students manage the library and develop team spirit, leadership, & management skills. Students are encouraged to submit write-ups as this indicates they have actually read the book. Annual prizes are awarded for the best write-ups.
More than 750 libraries have been set up since FY10 reaching 3.5 lakh students annually. From FY17, BREAD Scholarships will be revived for students of Diploma in Education. Eligible students will be supported with Rs6,000 per year, for 2 years.
The NGO does not have any paid employee. All work is done by volunteers and no money is spent on wages or travel. Books are purchased in bulk at discounted prices from publishers. The Board members consist of retired judges/ senior government bureaucrats, and retired headmasters.
