1000+ libraries set in government schools of India
  • Crisis: School is a gateway to knowledge and plays an important role in building up a love for reading. The school library is integral to this educational process. Encouraged at the right age, the children are sure to develop a love for books.
  • Programs: Govt. school students have neither purchasing power to buy books nor access to books. a) BREAD has set up many Children's Libraries in govt. schools during last 9 years which is their main program they are currently involved with. These libraries are updated with new books every year. b) They also organize scholarships for non-professional undergraduate and post graduate courses. Eligible students will be supported with an aid of Rs 6,000 per year. c) There is also a program where the NGO distributes prizes to students for best write-ups on library books read annually. 10 students from each school are awarded prizes.
  • Outcome: BREAD Society has successfully set 1024 Children's libraries, each library consisting of 650 books in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Over 4.5 lakh children access and read books from these libraries.
