Programs

Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC), is dedicated to empowering women involved in brothel-based prostitution and their daughters. Operating in the red-light areas of Falkland Road, Kamathipura, and Turbhe, AAWC works to break the cycle of intergenerational prostitution by providing comprehensive support, including education and development programs for girls, and empowerment tools for women. With a mission to offer a platform that fosters dignity and a better quality of life, AAWC strives to create opportunities for these women and children to make informed life choices.

Major Interventions:

AAWC provides a range of services such as educational support, health care, empowerment and outreach initiatives, recreational activities, and safe shelter home services to break the cycle of prostitution and foster the development of daughters of women in brothel-based prostitution.

UMEED: The initiative aims to enhance the well-being of trafficked women by addressing their physical, mental, and economic needs through a comprehensive approach. It helps secure essential identity documents for access to government benefits and support systems, offers financial guidance and vocational training to promote economic independence, and supports adult education to bridge gaps in formal learning. Health services include medical care, counselling to address issues like violence, childcare, alternative employment, HIV/AIDS, etc., and nutritional support, while recreational activities contribute to overall well-being. The program also provides shelter options for those needing refuge from their current circumstances.

UDAAN: The NGO seeks to break the inter-generational cycle of prostitution by supporting the development of Daughters of women in brothel-based prostitution. It provides both formal and informal education, along with mentorship and skill-building activities to empower the girls and create pathways to socioeconomic mobility. The program also prioritizes health with regular check-ups, medical care, nutritional support, and mental health services like counselling and art therapies. Safe and supportive shelter homes offer a secure environment for those in need.
