V Care seeks to help cancer patients and their families overcome the stigma and fear attached to cancer and provide help, hope, awareness, and education to them. Their team of 75 volunteers form the backbone of the foundation.
Programs: Support is provided in the form of: 1) Finance towards treatment. 2) Nutrition: Food coupons, biscuits, protein powder, meals, and food and milk for outstation patients. 3) Information & Counseling services. 4) Child care support: Retinoblastoma, infection control kit, ice box, gift on discharge. 5) Palliative support: Finance to outstation patients, home care, etc. 6) Other support: Confidence bags, wigs, bras, prosthesis, etc. 7) Ummeed: A 24*7 toll free helpline that provides information on accommodation, Government schemes, hospitals, NGOs, etc. 8) Manokamna: A newly introduced program that assists in fulfilling a desire/wish of a cancer patient above 18 years of age.
Outcome: In 2018 - 1) Financial assistance for treatment provided to 1,182 patients. 2) Nutritional support provided to 15,741 patients. 3) Confidence bags provided to 949 patients. 4) Wigs provided to 20 patients. 5) Lymphedema kits provided to 112 patients. 6) Bras and prosthesis provided to 81 patients.
