North Bengal Art Academy (NBAA) started in 2003, works for the betterment of the marginalized community in and around North Bengal. Its main activities are vocational training, micro planning, nutrition, education, women empowerment, and sanitation and employment generation programs for unemployed youth.

Main activities are:

Women empowerment: NBAA organizes projects targeted for skill development training of ladies and girls. The trainings help beneficiaries to improve their living conditions and be independent. Trainings is conducted in sewing, embroidery, knitting, tailoring, beautician, candle making and courses on travel and tourism. This training helps them to work either from home or to join some organization and earn an income.

Skill development Training: The courses taught at NBAA are both Diploma and Certificate Courses. The Academy has necessary facilities as well as infrastructure needed for teaching courses like Visual Art & Sculpture, Interior Designing, Food Processing, Dance, Singing, and Travel and Tourism. NBAA organises skill development trainings for youth and men in Car driving cum servicing/repairing, mobile repairing, servicing of home appliances and electric house wiring, computer training etc.

Microplanning: NBAA successfully conducts Micro Plannings such as FPC and EDC and baseline surveys in collaboration with Department of Forest ranging from far flung plains to the remote hill areas of North Bengal and adjoining regions. Once the relevant data is collected, counselling and vocational camps are set up for the different backward sectors.

Nutrition: The NGO provides free nutrition (food) programs to the poor in nearby areas. 727 people benefitted from this program in FY16.  The beneficiaries are sensitized on the basic ideas of ideal nutrition, malnutrition and minimum daily intake of vitamins as to improve their overall health.

Education: NBAA provides financial aid to needy students from financially weak families in Ghoshpukur, Khoribari, Bagrakote, Bagdogra, Matigara and Leninpur. During the year, 191 students benefitted from this program and were given a sum of Rs1000 each.

Awareness Programs: NBAA conducts awareness programs on proper methods of disposal of household wastes, cleanliness and personal hygiene, rain water harvesting and increase overall awareness to reduce pollution levels in the environment.
