Make-A-Wish works to fulfill the most cherished wish of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. With 10 divisions and 325+ volunteers, it has granted 67,389 wishes so far and aims to fulfill 75,000 wishes by 2020.
Eligibility Criteria: 1) Referral by a certified doctor from one of the 150+ partner hospitals to initiate the wish-granting process. 2) A child with a life-threatening medical condition, in the age group of 3-18 years. 3) No wish granted to the same child earlier by Make-A-Wish.
Types of Wishes: 1) Wish to Have. 2) Wish to Be. 3) Wish to Meet. 4) Wish to Go.
Process: 1) Referral of a child. 2) Volunteers meeting the parents and the wish child. 3) Recording the wish after interaction with the wish child. 4) Initiation of Wish fulfilment process. 5) Wish granting Event/Activity.
2011 Impact Report: A wish come true empowers children to fight harder against their illnesses. 89% doctors believe that a wish experience influences the wish child's physical health. 99% parents reported that their children were happier after their wish was fulfilled.
