Sunbeam provides a comprehensive education program to children living in the slums and chawls of Mumbai every academic year. Sunbeam's mission is to transform the lives of underprivileged children by giving them the opportunity to realize their full potential.

Their objectives are:

  • To oversee the holistic development of underprivileged children – their psychological and educational needs.
  • To motivate and empower the community to be responsible for the overall development of their children.
  • To make Sunbeam intervention a program of transformation rather than service delivery – with clarity on withdrawal strategy so that the community can become independent and self-reliant.

For older children from the 8th grade to degree colleges, Sunbeam enrols them in professional coaching classes, with parents contributing a portion of the fees according to policy. Additionally, Sunbeam collaborates with local municipal corporations to integrate students into formal schooling systems, making educational resources more accessible. Sunbeam also focuses on career counselling and academic support for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Sunbeam takes immense pride in the students who actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities. While providing free education, Sunbeam acknowledges that children have diverse interests that offer recreation and relaxation. It encourages students to indulge in various leisure activities, supporting them in pursuing their unique passions by promoting extracurricular engagement, helping students follow and achieve their distinctive dreams. Students play sports like football, rugby, carom and badminton, participating in national training programs and winning medals in competitions. Others have taken up martial arts, earning black belts and competing in tournaments.
