Saahas helps society to convert waste into resources. The NGO have been helping build communities across rural and urban India that manage their waste at source by reducing, reusing and recycling their waste and achieving 90% resource recovery. It focuses on building capacities of public institutions like the Municipal Corporation, as well as supporting progressive policies around waste management.
Behaviour Change: Large Scale campaigns are carried out at cities, wards, RWA, gram panchayats and village levels on source segregation, waste reduction, reuse and other topics for schools, residents, corporate employees, and other target groups. Saahas engages with innovative activities, customised to local cultures.
Capacity Building: Trained team of resource persons conducts short and detailed workshops and training modules on different topics engaging hands-on activities and tasks along with exposure visits.
Implementation & Technical Support: Sustainable Waste Management systems are being setup including collection, transportation, processing, disposal based on 4 kind of wastes- Wet/biodegradable waste, Dry/non-biodegradable waste, Rejects/hazardous waste, and E-waste involving different treatments for each one of them.
Research, Consultancy & Advocacy: The NGO also focuses on case studies and process documentation, baseline and other survey reports thereby piloting new technologies, feasibility study to educate people about individual and community waste management involving various guidelines relating the same.
