Uplifting vulnerable communities of Odisha
  • NYSASDRI's strategy works on community participation with a goal to implement, monitor and evaluate programs with the help of public participation. They also believe in order to empower marginalized communities of Odisha it is imperative to provide a better quality of life for people from below poverty line.
  • Programs: 1) Healthcare - NYSASDRI has its own Eye Hospital in Odisha charging minimal fees or no fees to the underprivileged. The team organizes workshops on several Healthcare issues, under them they also run Primary Health Centers. 2) Education: NYSASDRI has built a residential school, an education complex providing primary education to girls and tribal students, a school of journalism and social work, a community school and a creche center. 3) Women Empowerment: The NGO formed Self-Help Groups for women for their financial independence and inclusivity. They also conduct Community Empowerment workshops. 4) Rehabilitation & Reconciliation: NYSASDRI provides community support groups, a women's shelter, credit support and community rehabilitation for the disabled, a family counselling center, etc. 5) Livelihood Promotion: The organization is involved in Natural Resource Management, Forest Sector Development, Watershed Integration, Micro Financing SMEs, etc.
  • Outreach in 2018: NYSASDRI carried out 132 surgeries free of cost at their Eye Hospital. 32 women in distress and 22 children were provided shelter by the NGO. 124 families underwent joint and individual counselling sessions. 100 girls from tribal communities are currently being provided primary education at NYSASDRI's Education Complex.
