Transforming lives of underprivileged rural communities of India
  • Crisis: According to the census of 2011, about two-third of rural India survives on a sum of ₹5,000 per month to make ends meet for their entire household. LOLT, through its interventions with women and children in rural India, aims at transforming lives of these underprivileged communities by empowering them through sustainable and supportive programs.
  • Programs: LOLT's programs are divided under two main verticals - 1) Anando: This program focuses on successful completion of secondary education of underprivileged rural children through their holistic development, by adopting a 3E approach - Educate, Empower and Equip for Employability. It seeks to provide the necessary support that first generation learners need to break out of the vicious cycle of poverty. 2) Jagruti: The program aims to empower rural disadvantaged communities through interventions in areas of Livelihood Training, Primary Healthcare, and Environment Conservation. A Mobile Medical Unit reaches out to remote rural parts where there is no access to medical facilities.
  • Outcome: So far, 0.24+ million beneficiaries have been reached out to across 790 villages as follows: 1) Anando: 0.12+ million beneficiaries; 2) Livelihood Training: 41,000+ beneficiaries; 3) Primary Healthcare: 39,600+ patients; 4) Environment Conservation: 22,800+ beneficiaries.
