Salaam Bombay Foundation is dedicated to empowering underprivileged adolescents by providing them with the skills, confidence, and resources necessary to stay in school and build brighter futures. The foundation envisions a world where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential, breaking the cycle of poverty through education and skill development. Its mission is to equip children with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed choices about their health, education, and livelihood, ensuring their overall well-being and success. Major Interventions: Preventive Health Education Programme: SBF operates a range of programs designed to support at-risk children. It educates students on the dangers of tobacco consumption, the importance of nutrition, and mental well-being. Through initiatives like KHANA, students learn about proper nutrition, while the Super Army program engages them in tobacco control advocacy. The Happy Minds initiative provides psychological support to help children manage stress and emotional challenges. The Skills@School Program focuses on vocational training, offering students practical skills in beauty and wellness, bakery, mobile repair, and digital literacy. This initiative allows adolescents to earn an income while continuing their education, thus preventing school dropouts. Project Résumé bridges classroom education with vocational training, enabling underprivileged adolescents to earn part-time without leaving school. It enhances their future job prospects by integrating education with skill development, apprenticeships, and 21st-century employment skills. The program nurtures confidence, self-esteem, and life skills through art, sports, and media academies, empowering youth at a critical stage. The Academy of the Arts encourages self-expression through theatre, dance, music, and creative arts, helping students build confidence and discover new career pathways. The Media Academy trains students in journalism, photography, and video editing, giving them a platform to express their perspectives and develop career-oriented skills. The Sports Academy uses fitness and sports to instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience while offering students opportunities in the sports industry. DreamLab supports alumni by providing advanced training, internships, and entrepreneurial opportunities. The initiative enables former students to transition into sustainable careers through mentorship, market exposure, and financial assistance for business ventures. |
