Development Awareness Women Net (DAWN) was established to promote women and child development programmes.
Some of their 2012-13 activities were as follows:
SHG Skill Training: DAWN conducted 15 day skill-development trainings for SHG members to enable them to generate an income. They have a team of legal volunteers to give advice to women in these groups. DAWN also provides mushroom cultivation and organic farming training in order for women to sustain themselves with food and an income.
Leprosy Training: They organise a national leprosy eradication programme to spread awareness and inform the population on testing. The organisation makes home visits for early detection and older cases in order to avoid limb deformity.
Tree Plantations: DAWN provides trees to members to plant in drought hit areas or encourage them to adopt nursery trees and plant them in their homes. 1,186 trees were planted in 346 homes.
Consumer Awareness Programme: The organisation educates people on their rights to health services, money and retail prices.
