Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) is committed to addressing unique environmental challenges and diverse community needs. KMSWS focuses on quality education, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, and health improvement. By promoting self-reliance and equal opportunity, the NGO empowers individuals and fosters a supportive environment for personal and community growth, aiming to create a resilient and thriving community.

Major Interventions:

Environment: The initiatives include biodiversity conservation, afforestation, medicinal plant advocacy, and combating chemical pollutants. It promotes organic farming and the use of bio fertilizers, and supports farmers with the establishment of Farmers' Clubs for knowledge sharing. Strategic tree planting, such as Jhau, Siris, Peach, and Neem, strengthens the region's climate resilience, especially against cyclones. The NGO’s efforts encompass watering, mulching, pruning, and protecting trees with emphasizing the planting of medicinal plants for community well-being and fosters disaster resilience by engaging local communities in recovery efforts, aiming for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Tiyas School Programme: By focusing on holistic education, KMSWS empowers disadvantaged youth with activity-based learning, hands-on science and nature models, computer education, and diverse co-curricular activities. The school promotes gender equality, critical thinking, and environmental consciousness, while fostering leadership and social responsibility. With innovative teaching methods, digital literacy initiatives, and strong community engagement, Tiyas School nurtures well-rounded students prepared for their personal and academic growth.

It runs a transformative coaching project, bridging students to mainstream education through dedicated morning and evening sessions. KMSWS has been consistently cultivating minds, fostering character, turning uncertainty into confidence. Aligned with the Government of India's "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative, KMSWS emphasizes girls' education, with nearly half of the students’ enrolled being female, ensuring they receive equal opportunities and support for their holistic development.

Skill Development: KMSWS offers specialized courses in computer skills, beautician training, and tailoring, particularly for women facing economic or social challenges. The success of training batches has paved the way for financial independence, allowing women to contribute meaningfully to society. The Swapno Tori start-up further empowers participants by creating and selling eco-friendly handmade products such as reusable cloth pads, jewellery, and hand-painted textiles. Additionally, KMSWS adopts natural farming practices to enhance soil health, biodiversity, and ecological balance, minimizing the use of synthetic inputs. These efforts promoting environmental sustainability and cultural richness while enhancing employability, resilience, and overall success.

KMSWS also organizes periodic health camps, providing essential healthcare services like general health check-ups, blood sugar testing, and dental check-ups, to promote wellness within the community.
