Some of their 2012-13 activities were as follows:

  • Educational Support: The organisation provided 50 rural children with uniforms, notebooks, and an opportunity at a holistic education by educating them on their rights and conducting health awareness camps.
  • National Environmental Educational Programmes: AKST in coordination with the Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India and Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishth conducted biodiversity awareness campaigns at Saroja Memorial School. Essay and quiz competitions gave children the chance to learn and teach others about keeping the environment clean. Prizes were given to the winners.
  • Crèche Units: The organisation runs crèche units with the support of the Central Social Welfare Board in New Delhi and the Karnataka State Social Welfare Board. Two crèche centres are run for children of working mothers, from the ages of 1 to 6 years. Basic health check-ups are conducted and daily food is provided. 55 children benefitted this year.
  • Children’s Club: AKST organises activities and trainings to improve socialization, reduce alienation, and increase the development of underprivileged children.
  • Child Labour Eradication Programme: Awareness programmes are conducted on the rights of children to education, the importance of the girl child, and the effects of child labour.
