Marathwada Gramin Vikas Sanstha (MGVS) has been working since 1995 in the outskirts of Maharashtra with underprivileged communities. Their mission is equal access to basic necessities for all and empowerment to the poor in rural as well as urban areas.
Programs: i) Health: Prevention of HIV/AIDS; Residential Care for orphans; community based health care centers; advancing tobacco control. ii) Environment: Integrated Water management for drought affected areas; toilet construction in impoverished villages. iii) Education: Promote school readiness with the help of the community and activities such as simulating a positive home environment, cognitive development, awareness of early childhood care and physical and mental well-being of a child. iv) Others: Shelter home for beggars; Smile E-learning for the youth; vocational training for women and self-employment generation initiatives.
Impact so far: 1) Toilet constructed in 15 villages until now. 2) HIV/AIDS growth rate reduced to 0.40% from 7.25%. 3) 13,538 hectare of area are water harvesting structures used for irrigation built by NGVS. 4) 200+ Orphans provided with care.
