Quality Awareness around reproductive health & family planning
Crisis: Despite the well-intended policies, the unmet need for family planning remains high in India. The modern contraceptive prevalence rate for states such as Bihar (23.3%), Uttar Pradesh (31.7%), Jharkhand (37.5%), Assam (37%), are lower than the national rate (47.8%) and the burden of family planning continues to be on the woman.
Programs: The Foundation for Reproductive Health Services India (FRHSI) was started to bridge a critical gap between providing family planning services at a primary healthcare level. i) Clinical Outreach Team and Mini-COT was initiated to provide services at public primary/community health center are inadequate by closely working with the district government through professional help. ii) Public Sector Support model was formed to help Healthcare centers to improve on patient care. iii) FRHSI is running 3 family health centers in India independently for underprivileged families.
Impact for 2019: 140,952 patients supported. 53 maternal deaths averted, 20,613 unsafe abortions averted and 57,599 unintended pregnancies averted.
