Sustainable Rural Development in remote areas of West Bengal
Sukalyan Welfare Society has been working relentlessly with minimum human resources to bring about inclusive change in rural communities through inclusive development. They have so far used a bottom-up approach.
Programs: The organization has initiatives under - i) Financial Literacy: Sukalyan is education women on financial planning, family budgeting, importance of savings and how to execute the same. There village level projects and workshops to support vulnerable communities. ii) Livelihood: Focusing on upskilling women for generation of income, the NGO imparts training on tailoring. iii) Early Childhood Care: Sukalyan's Sishutirtha initiative conceptualized to support existing Anganwadi centers to bridge the learning gap.
Outcome: 106,030 women impacted since 2016 under Financials Education, 8 financial literacy centers are being run currently. There is a 60% increase in income of women after the Livelihood Training project.
